Team Leader & Project Manager

Berliner Stadtwerke KP GmbH, Berlin

Since 2022, I have been in the hybrid role of team leader and project manager in our "Implementation of heating and cooling systems" team. Together we realize renewable projects in the city of Berlin. My team currently consists of 8 employees. In our team we live the values of trust, cooperation and being able to fully rely on each other. We benefit from our different backgrounds, professional experiences and expertise. Together, we are driving the heat turnaround in Berlin.

CHP plants in Berlin

04/2019 – 12/2021

Project Manager

Berliner Stadtwerke KP GmbH, Berlin

As the Project Manager of Heat Production Plants I manage the renewal of heating systems in the city of Berlin. We use current technologies in combination with CHP, heat pumps, solar heating or other renewable systems. I am involved in planning and executing new projects, overvieweing the construction site and manage the projects overall success.

11/2017 – 03/2019

Project Leader

beta GmbH, Berlin

I managed a small team of engineers and administrative staff. Together with our head of accounting, we introduced new management methods to optimise work processes and reduce project costs. In addition I obtained the representation power of attorny (Vertrauensvollmacht) concerning decisions within our projects. During my time at beta, I have realised combined heat and power plant projects with my team, for which I have full responsibility. The projects each supply 30 to 50 terraced houses with heat and electrity.

12/2015 – 10/2017

Project Engineer

beta GmbH, Berlin

beta GmbH is an energy contractor which supplies customers with heat & electricity from small CHP plants in domestic areas. As a contractor beta GmbH carries out consulting, planning, financing and operation of the energy systems. In addition beta GmbH operates their own heating stations.

My tasks included managing and monitoring the maintenance optimisation of existing heating plants as well as the entire planning of new projects.

In my day-to-day work, I was mainly responsible for the regulatory framework of CHP plants. This includes the EEG, EnEff, EnEv, KWKG, EnStG, StromStG and EnWG.

05/2014 – 11/2015

Project Engineer

Theilen Maschinenbau, Varel

I have projected belt drying systems for applications in the chemical and food industry worldwide. My tasks included the preparaton of cost estimates and the planning of drying processes. I have managed projects from start to finish. This included defining the project objective with the customer on site, followed by the specification of the drying system. It also involved the selection of component suppliers and change management.

06/2012 – 08/2012

Technical Assistant

EWE AG, Oldenburg

As part of the National Innovation Programme for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NIP), five energy suppliers and three manufacturers of fuel cell heating appliances are carrying out an important lighthouse project in the field of ‘Stationary applications in domestic energy supply’. In my position as a technical assistant, I have analysed and summarised the results for the ‘Callux’ project.

Education

10/2012 – 03/2014

Master of Science

Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg
Postgraduate Programme Renewable Energy

During this international study program I obtained practical and theoretical knowledge about renewable energy systems. The program included a 2-month internship abroad. I specialized in “wind energy systems”.

Master Thesis (M. Sc.)

Topic: “Study of a wind hydrogen storage system analyzing different technological configurations and wind power predictions”

In my master's thesis at overspeed GmbH & Co.KG, I analyse a given wind-hydrogen storage model in MatLab using different system configurations. These configurations include changes in the electrolyzer and fuel cell outpu as well as the use of various current and day-ahead forecast data. The aim is to work out the influence of these components on the storage system. Furthermore, it is ask which forecast data sets result in the most favourable system behavior. For this purpose, 5-minute, 30-minute averaged forecasts and forecasts with a exceedance probability of 90%, 50% and 10% are used. The storage system will be integrated into wind farms in Victoria and New South Wales, Australia.

Overall M. Sc. grade: 1.70

09/2008 – 03/2012

Bachelor of Engineering

Jade University of Applied Science, Wilhelmshaven
Maschinenbau (Mechanical Engineering)

During my mechanical engineering studies, I acquired knowledge of heating, air conditioning, photovoltaic and solar thermal systems in addition to the mathematical, scientific, computer science and technical basics.

Bachelor Thesis (B. Eng.)

Institut für Solarenergieforschung, Hameln

Topic: “Temperature load and heat loss of highly efficient, insulated-glazed flat plate collectors”

My bachelor's thesis deals with the serviceability and, in particular, the temperature resistance of the primary sealant used in the edge seal of the glazing. For this purpose, the edge seal is thermally loaded in a high-temperature load test rig over a longer period of time and the ageing behaviour of the edge seal is investigated during this time. At the same time, various design variants of the flat-plate collector are analysed in the Heat2 simulation program with regard to the maximum edge seal temperature in the event of stagnation. These results are used to determine the equivalent load duration of the edge seal at high temperatures in Central and Southern Europe. In addition, the influence of the design variants on the total heat loss at the collector is determined.

Overall B. Eng. grade: 1.83
